1. National Olympiad in Informatics (NOI) competition

On the 7th of March 2009, 10 of our students from both the high school and college sections participated in the National Olympiad in Informatics (NOI) competition held at the National University of Singapore School of Computing. NOI tests a student's ability to solve problems with programming within a stipulated time- limit. The results are as follows:

From the high school section, 2 Golds and 2 Silvers

2. Lee Chu Yong Mark (4S209) Gold
3. Yan Kaidi (3S132) Silver
4. ZHENG YI (4S131) Silver
5. Gan Wei Liang (2I208) Participation

From the college section, 2 Golds, 2 Silvers and 1 Bronze

The high school and college have both won the Top Secondary School and the Top Junior College award.

Overall individual award:

2. Network and Security Investigation

NSI, short for Network and Security Investigation, is an IT security challenge organised by Republic Polytechnic's School of Information and Communication Technology.

The competition was held on the 8 Jun 2009, it is a unidue competition in which students from all secondary and international schools in Singapore pit their wits and guile to investigate IT crime and to secure wireless systems.

NSI is part of the National Infocomm Competition 2009(NIC) under the Secondary School circuits.

We have achieved good results for the above competition, two of our teams took part in the competition have obtained Champion and 4th prize. They are:

3. National Software Competition

On 12 September 2009, students from both the college and high school sections, took part in the 25th National Software Competition. The National Software Competition is jointly organised by Singapore Polytechnic and the Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore.

In the Algorithm Team Event, students are given challenging questions testing their problem solving skills in programing.

The team from the Secondary School category consists of:
- Tan Run Xian from 4S1
- Zheng Yi, also from 4S1, and
- Ang Ray Yan 3S1
have done the school proud by emerging as champions.

In the Secondary School IT Quiz, students answer 230 questions within the 20 minutes preliminary round, with the top 6 schools participating in a final round, including a quick-fire buzzer round. The team, which comprises of:
- Mark Lee from 3S1
- Yuan Yu Chuan 3I1
- Nam Jun Jie Derek 3P2
came in 4th

In the Lego Challenge, the team, which comprises of
- Wong Jun Ming from 2A1
- Glenn Hay Hui Jie from 2A2
- Cheng Wei Hong from 2A3
came in 5th.
